Is this right for my bun?
For rabbits who shake their head, scratch their ears with their back feet, or have dry flaky crusts or scabs inside the ear. Especially Lops and Dwarfs. If the mites keep coming back no matter what you try, the egg cycle was never broken.
Is it safe? Can I use it with my vet's treatment?
Yes. It's made only of rabbit-safe ingredients, with no drug, no pesticide and zero essential oils, so it's safe alongside your vet's treatment. Many owners keep their vet's plan going while BunEar softens the crusts and soothes the ear. If your bun has a head tilt, loss of balance or a smelly discharge, see a rabbit-savvy vet first.
Does it contain tea tree or essential oils?
No. Tea tree, eucalyptus, pennyroyal and strong lavender can be toxic to rabbits, so we leave them out completely. BunEar is just olive oil, MCT coconut oil, USP mineral oil, vitamin E and chamomile.
Why do ear mites keep coming back after treatment?
Most treatments hit the adult mites but leave the crusts and eggs behind. The eggs hatch and the cycle restarts 2-4 weeks later. BunEar softens the crusts and is used through the full 3-week egg cycle.
Will this work if olive oil from my kitchen didn't?
Yes. Kitchen olive oil is heavy, mats the fur and goes rancid, and it has nothing to soothe the skin. BunEar is a lighter, pre-blended formula with vitamin E and chamomile, used on a routine that covers the egg cycle.
Will this work for young buns?
Yes, and catching it early matters. A young bun that's already shaking its head may have mites settling in. Starting early means fewer crusts, faster relief and fewer vet visits.
My bun hates being handled. Is it hard to apply?
No. Warm the bottle in your hands, wrap your bun in a towel 'bunny burrito' style, drop and massage the base of the ear for 20 seconds, then give a treat. Most buns relax once the itch eases.
